Follow the Grain

By cfurrow on February 1, 2014 5:20 pm

This is another tune that I started a while back but never got around to finishing. I wanted a long buildup before the vocals came in...kinda like the Sea and Cake did on their song 'The Argument'.
I travel quite a bit for work so I ended up recording the vocals using my iphone mic in a Seattle hotel room. I also used a really cool synth on my iPad called Grain Science for some of the synth parts.

wow such a full sound, love how that one melody early on revolves around and around.  Vocals fit nicely into everything as well.  Really digging this one. smile

grain science is great! big fan of the sea and cake. i really love your tunes, you've got good sensibilities.

great! i can totally feel this track. and cheers to recording vocals too, many electronic musicians simply ignore adding any vocal content.

great track! The flow and finesse of the sounds are wonderful!

there is this magic glow in your track that really makes me want to go out and hug a unicorned-pandasloth with tentacles just because!

Fantastic job, glad you added the vocals, sound great

Great track. I love the vocals. The track has a melancholic vibe which I find very interesting

Thanks for the lovely comments, friends! I'm really enjoying all the music on here. Very inspiring.

Played a bit with grain science myself, in the search for portable versions of the Nebuliser/Granulator in Audiomulch (check it out if you've not!)...your vox style is spot on, and this track just cruises along in a cool way

Thanks a bunch, sinewave!! I've never tried Audiomulch. I might have to download the demo. It looks a lot like max or Pd. Is it along the same lines as those?

Don't know max really but Mulch is a lot nicer looking than pd. Maybe you can't do as much as in pd though, at least not as easily. But the built-in instruments/fx are cool and you can run VSTs, so I guess it's enduser-friendly...
