The way out is heavy but pure

Dice gave me G minor (ok, I cheated and swapped the mode die for a coin representing major/minor because the bastard was giving me diminished every other week it seemed like).
Runes gave me "Kano", which according to some goofy dude in the 60s means "door" or "opportunity".
For this trio of weeks I've been planning on doing something like chill industrial, and this one came together pretty fast. Definitely more of my comfort zone.
I started with the bassline, thinking something like "heavy bass/indus but make it halftime" and it's crude but I dig it. The rest just got built around the basslines, no chord progressions or mucking about with harmony theory this time just layers of little counter-melodies. I would normally have used a distorted electronic drum kit, but I really liked the way the acoustic sounds worked with the synths so I just slapped some subtle bitcrush on 'em.
On that note, JMGSounds Bitpunk was really the star plugin here. I put that ish on almost everything, from the drums to the master track itself. It has great range (and excellent presets), from the total destruction I used to make one of my crappy guitar tracks useful, to the subtle ear sugar on the bass and drums that make the whole thing feel more textured and whole.
