Another Day

By Bunjigram on June 2, 2024 11:19 pm

I'm not quite satisfied with my mix this week, but ran out of time, so just uploaded my last recorded version. Usually, I sit down at my piano and mess around until I find a groove I like and then hit record. I play improv so it's whatever I get in one or two takes.  This week, I struggled because I was trying to learn to use a DAW so I could potentially mix in other instruments along with my keys. I need to keep working on that, but since I was running out of time, I switched back to just using my onboard recorder and converting to an MP3 before uploading. This beat is more of a doodle that needs refinement, so maybe I'll revisit it "Another Day" to flesh it out.  Thanks for listening.  - RCN

Performed and recorded on a Kawai ES8.

I hear ya, sometimes the DAW throws a wrench in the creative process for me as well.  Improvs are always appreciated and good to keep that productivity flowing.  The main opening chords are super catchy and have a nice contemplative feel.  The theme in the higher octave around 1min was extra pleasing to hear.

Thanks for the feedback.  In addition to working in a DAW, I’m trying to learn how to master my songs in Audacity.  So, that’s a whole other layer to add to this creative process.  This forum has really helped me to push myself to spend more time playing and creating.

It's still working so far, but I'm sure you'll do great things once you've got that sorted.
It does seem strange that you would master outside the DAW though.

Yeah, I'm not using Audacity anymore. I think that was just a stepping stone until I had time to learn more about using all the great utilities in Ableton.  Now I do all my mastering in Ableton, and really like it much better.
