The Blank VHS Tape

By BTS on November 13, 2022 9:55 pm

I started to create my stretch material in Samplebrain this week. I used a set of individual note samples and matched it with a drum loop to create an odd melodic piece. I then took a couple of clips into Paulstretch, where I created the main elements. I then used Audition, adding phasers, choruses and the Aberrant DSP effects Digitalis and Sketch Cassette to create a dark and unnerving ambient piece.

It gives off the vibe of an unmarked VHS tape, with content you can't quite describe.

Cool effects.  It sounds almost granular at times, but I figured that might be Paulstretch.  Makes me miss Aberrant plugins; I'm not sure if I'll continue to stick to hardware trackers for the entire year, but it will be great to get back to them.  What's it like working with Samplebrain?

Very cool. I noticed this is in NC-SA CC license. You mind if I try using this in a WB?

SampleBrain is interesting. I'm still trying to get my head around all of the controls.

I'll follow your progress with some interest―I installed SampleBrain after hearing this track, and I'm still trying to get it to make sounds. tongue
