a couple of weeks ago i tried to record myself playing drums again - this time with a somewhat better setup than a phone (see this other WB track for reference).  this time around, i used just one overhead condenser mic - turned out better than expected.  (well, after a bit of postprocessing of course)

i also tried playing over a click track and holy lord it's damn hard.  i ended up having to make some slightly liberal use of stretch markers in reaper for this one.

i've been sick for the last 6 days so i dusted these recordings off and put some floaty VST junk over top of it.  i still don't get how people can be so productive with a DAW, i swear you'd have to be a keyboard virtuoso just to not have a terrible time.

one of my goals this year is to get comfortable enough with DAWs so that they don't feel like they get in the way.  still lots to learn...

great production. the drums and the bass synth are forming a nice chemistry together that vaguely touches herbie hancock's chameleon man.

very enjoyable track with some nice drumming. im on the other side of the fence though about DAWs. its all i use and i find it easier than a tracker. its really just getting used to knowing where everything is though for both

diggin it
