i already knew this week was going to be a super busy one so i didn't have any expectations about length.  i was just messing around on a drumkit when it occured to me at the spur of the moment to record some of it straight to my android phone via TapeaTalk.  then i brought it into reaper, sped it up just a little, threw some freestyle rhodes (courtesy of pianoteq) over top to fill it out a bit, then played around with some EQ/compression/reverb.  that's about it really!

thoughts:
- the sound quality of the bare recording into my phone's mic was shockingly bearable, i was expecting it to be distorted and muddled to heck.
- obviously i haven't been trained in any professional capacity or anything, but i never REALLY realized how hard it is to play evenly enough for use in a recording, especially with no click track!  i'd love to be able to get to that point..
- is there a better recording app for android?

Nice fills and groove! I'm a guy who was lucky enough to play drums twice in his entire life so for me your playing sounds professional

Amazing drumming, that snare sounds tasty

yep, 2-n163 means 2 namco channels!

Very nice - would love to hear some bass underpinning this. I am also a huge fan of the human element of loss of groove, sticks dropping and then audible sigh at the end (addicted to hearing things in recordings that 'should' be left out smile )

love it. let's collab on some breakbeat stuff with this feel

Man, you got some grooves!
There's an odd stiff snare or two in there but you got the touch

Wow, some very dope rhythms yo!

the drum playing is very admirable. Fantastic job!

wow, your phone recording sounds amazingly clear. it even has a nice echo on the drums from your room. pretty solid drumming as well

Dude, this has an excellent quality to it! I love it. Reminds me of gaslamp killer. Shows how great minimalism can be.

Hmm! I wish I could play the drums like you.

thanks all!  self-taught but i've always been hankering to spend some quality time with an instructor to iron out deficiencies, bad habits and inconsistencies.  i might just make good on that desire later this year.

if you're good with with the beatslicing and especially timestretching, i'm down.  i think i'll have another go at this but with a slightly better recording setup, one of my to-do's is to finally make some significant use of my condenser mic(s).

i had no clue you played drums! and tbh these sound remarkably good for a recording on a phone. i'm impressed.

fucking awesome.

works really well that you sped it up. Fantastic drumming

Wow what a nice little treat! The beats are incredible sick and interesting, the rhodes just gives the perfect mellow accompaniment to that energy too

Nice chilled tune&beat!
