Song for Joy #28

By brian botkiller on July 15, 2018 10:35 pm

Back to some progressive roots this week. I usually go between progressive techno/house and MNML, especially during WB runs. This one is more on the prog side. Sort of going on the fact that we're pushing hard to work thru the Summer, get a lot done, and our wedding anniversary is coming up soon, so we're looking towards the horizon of the rest of the year.

Quity Hybryd-esque development here. Wish the kick and the drums were a little more present (the bass takes a lot of presence on headphones, bouncing across the stereo field). Anyway, pretty good synths here!

Thanks for that. I don't usually test mixes in headphones, but I probably could stand to do it more often. I also pulled the drums down in this mix a bit because I was actually not happy with how hot they were in the mix.

Drum groove like the reaction jets on an Apollo spacecraft. I like that funky chopped up vocalization going on. Sounds like a Mattel Speak and Spell speaking in tongues! Great synth sounds. Happy anniversary!

This is really nice, enjoyed listening to this. I guess I agree with the previous comments, the drums could be upped a notch, and also maybe it would help clear up the mix if you did some mid/side EQ so that bass frequencies would be more centered in the mix, but maybe that's just me overthinking it. smile

The bass is moving things around on my desk.

And the cat just split.
