Week 1: Starlight

By BOULDER D4SH on January 5, 2014 9:23 pm

Melodic Synthpop/elecronica with overuse of arpeggiator and cheesy vocoder vocals.

All synth sounds come from ES2 and Retro Synth. Drums are CR78 kit from Maschine and BD is from Maschine Drum Synth.

Vocoder is recorded live from Microkorg XL. Lyrics are as cheesy as vocoder lyrics need to be big_smile

I really like the intro, and the rest actually. Where are the vocals?

Thnx. Hmm yeah. Vocoder is the melody that starts at 2min mark. I recorded it just before submitting the track and now when i listen it it sounds quite unrecognizable. Better sounds next time big_smile

dang this is real good

This has such a nice addictive and driving melody and beat. Great work.

Wow, that chord progression is so very 80s. I love it!

Love all of your sample choices in this track, truly a stunning soundscape.

fascinating, like a diff take on com truise - love it

i'm a sucker for rhythmic synth work.  you nailed it!

Thanks for the comments!
Only sample used on this track (apart from the CR78 drums) is the white noise sweep effect. All other sounds come from Logic's ES2 and Retro Synth. Almost everything is ran trough arpeggiator big_smile Badly played chords just make the rhythm more interesting.

arp meeeeeeeee

Really pretty start, and I am not disappointed with where you take it from there! Very good.
