W24: Somnaris

Last week I complained about how the SP404 MK2 doesn't gel with me. This week I forced myself to use it and utilize its strengths (sequencer is definitely not one of them). So I recorded a couple of chords from my Deluge into various pads, without any sort of timing whatsoever, and basically used SP404 MK2 as a "tape machine" to compose "phased loops". I felt like some of the more obscure effects in this device were actually geared towards ambient stuff! (like Zan-Zou, Ko-Da-Ma etc)

So yeah I think I'm satisfied with the result. So I think I'll keep using this device for more abstract and "tape based" ambient compositions.

Enjoy!

P.S: "Somnaris" is a name I came up with for an imaginary sleeping pill. "Somnus" is "sleep" in Latin, and "-aris" is a common suffix used in medication names. smile
