W20: Kabukicho 2024

I’m away from home for 2.5 weeks (visiting Japan). I didn’t want to skip a couple of weeks so I got my Dirtywave M8 with me and tried to work on a track for about half an hour every day until I eventually pass out (tourist duty is hard).

Visiting Kabukicho and experiencing the super small “snack bars”, along with endless streams of people flowing down the narrow streets was very interesting. It was fun but there was a sense of uneasiness that came with the “tatemae” of locals (which is not massively disturbing, but it’s definitely there) so I tried to reflect that feeling of subtle unease, but maybe in year 2034.

Dirtywave M8, all but 1 track internal synths. The “arpeggio” one has the famous “monowave.wav” wavetable using OSC mode on the sampler instrument. Direct render out of device, just plugged in the sdcard to my phone, grabbed the wave file, converted to MP3 (using Twisted Wave on my phone) and uploaded using Safari, heh…

Enjoy!
