W02: Idling at the Repair Station

By boorch on January 6, 2026 3:02 am

Another ambient drone composition created with my own software Dronage Terminal.

This week I added a new custom engine (Hyper) and Stereo Chorus per MetaModule. I still get fascinated when I (unexpectedly) get guitar-like sounds out of physical modelling engines when combined with distortion and primitive cab sim algos (I'm secretly proud of, and still surprised how I was able to implement) with some chorus sprinkled on top for that final touch. It's wild sometimes making things sound worse gets them closer to the real thing.

You can check out a video capture of the performance here to take a peek at my settings.

Enjoy!

Ugh, this sounds so cool. I really need to try Dronage Terminal out, it looks so awesome.

Beautiful textures and chords.
Dense and moody.

Well played.

Sublime ! Sounds larger than life. I'm surprised that's not a guitar

Holy crap this sounds so good. Beautiful textures indeed. Very cool that you made it in your own software, I ned to check that out for sure. Could've fooled me with some of the sounds not being actual guitar!
