Early Riser

Double shift tomorrow so I had to get this in today. It's hot and humid here. Put a generic comp on the bassline and sidechained it to the drums with the intent to duck the bass to help the kick cut through. I'm not sure I'm doing that right. Should it be the kick sidechained to the bass? Maybe someone could give me a tip? I also have another comp (no s/c) on the kick. I ended up having to turn down both the drums and bass for a decent mix and I still think they're a bit too in your face. Ran out of time to tweak. I've downloaded several of your tracks, so I am listening even though I haven't commented much. Keep up the good work ppl.

Nice groove--propulsive in that early-ambient-Aphex  "Xtal" kind of way.  That ride cymbal might be a touch hot, but maybe that's just me.  (606?  Or 808?)

Sidechaining: I'm at work at the moment, but I'd suggest looking here or here; more a bit later.

Lovely piece!
