Tumuli

By Beefpounder on January 28, 2024 2:44 am

week four, the experiment continues.

IDK ITS SPOOKY.

Made a couple neat stabs and tried to build atmosphere around them. Decided to try to do some more vocal stuff too. ill probably never sing here but doing a sort of chant was pretty fun. everything else is once again the sounds of me physically abusing a bass.

maybe ill get a real synth or midi keyboard one of these days.

This conjures up images of a "temple of doom" kind of vibe, or catacombs, which after a quick google search of the meaning behind Tumuli I suppose I'm not too far off from the intent. I really dig the deep bass behind those stabs, like an eldritch creature calling out from an abyss. And that pause right before 2:54 where the otherworldly, kind of robotic synth bass (reminds me of the Reaper call from Mass Effect) was super well done. Very cinematic. Great job with this track, I can definitely hear your growth as you continue to experiment. Congrats on the first month smile

That was great, I really enjoyed it.  towards the end it had a real apocalyptic feel, and what you did with your voice was super affective. And yes I agree with ViridianLoom about the sound being reminiscent of the Reapers.  Really well done man

The chanting sounds awesome. I really like what almost sounds like a loud horn faintly in the background. I also really like how that loud blasty note keeps coming back. It stops you from getting too comfortable! This is a really cool atmospheric track. It sounds like exploring some unbelievably massive dark place. Really liked this one!

Love all the different sounds you can get out of that bass man, 2:30 was unsettling haha, gave me goosebumps.

Wow! You've got quite an ear for the eerie cinematic sound design. I love that some of these sounds are coming from your voice and bass, I would not care to try and identify the source for these sounds, too spooky!! Thank you.

Thanks man, wouldn't be doing this challenge if it wasn't for you.
