Ohriah V: Grove of The Sileni (Feat:ViridianLoom)

Finally got another one of these off the ground. First time using a drum plugin so pretty nervous to shoot this one out.

Main inspiration this time around are Satyrs and The Fireys from Labyrinth. Just wacky little hedonists, one from myth, and the others from one of my favorite films. Overall feel I was aiming for was stumbling into a debauched party in full swing while our protagonist attempts to keep themselves to themselves.

Went with a more modern driven sound versus a lighter 80's sound, i think it lends itself to more dangerous feel.
Because Satyrs werent...nice and The Fireys scared the shit out of me.

Huge thank you to Viridian for providing me with lyre samples for this and allowing me to immediately ruin them!

Super interesting twist on how you used my lyre parts! Based on your prior Ohriah pieces I had assumed you'd use it for something more on the spacey and serene side, but this takes an unexpected turn with some attitude and darkness. I dig it! Maybe even be the first song I've heard from you this year that has percussion? Pretty rad song, good job and I'm proud of you heart

The second time listening to this I had the orgy scene from Conan the Barbarian (1982 of course) and this track would make a great fit, so to my ears you pulled it off.  Great song and great reference material.

sidenote: the first time I listened to it yesterday was on Valium for a migraine, that was some kind of trip

I'm not sure exactly why, but this reminds me really strongly of Crocodile Dundee... something about feels like the first half of the movie where their out in the bush... but darker... so like if there was some ominous Australian monstrosity of a spider (or whatever crazy lethal thing that's just run of the mill down there) creeping up on them.  Weird reference, but there's something about the lyre tone with the driving drums and bass that has both a cinematic quality and a specifically Crocodile Dundee vibe... ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯

Thanks man, it was my first track with percussion! I had originally tried for something closer to the previous tracks but couldn't get anything to stick. So i figured why not flip the script and see what happens.

I like the way this turned out! I really like what you did with those lyre samples. I think you captured the creepy vibes and the party vibes together really nicely!
