Some more heavy stuff this week, 2 gtrs, 1 bass, 1 drum machine. Although I'm a big fan, I wasn't intending for the start to sound so much like Godflesh, but it really does.

kinda godflesh-ish, but the bass isn't nearly as gnarly and distorted

very true, from memory i think he used a boss metal zone to get that tone. I used an mxr bass overdrive which is much a more subtle (and parallel) distortion than the metal zone. Wasn't really going for a godfleshy sound to be honest, it wasn't until i added those open hi hat hits in the intro that i noticed the similarity to Christbait Rising.

the drums sound awesome for being a machine. What did you use?

Cheers mate, drums were done using Addictive Drums.

Yes!  Very cool man.  A great blend of heavy styles.  What's that weird pulsing on the hats?  Really noticeable about 3 quarters in.  Also on the cymbals slightly.  It could be a mixing artifact.  Possibly compression affecting the top end from the low end kicks?

That is a mystery to me sir, i keep hearing it whenever i use Addictive drums, don't generally tend to use compression on sampled drums unless it's for effect as the levels in most sampled kits are pretty spot on, mild 2:1 compression across the entire mix is all i've used on this one.
