I ended up scrapping what I had done so far at the 11th hour and starting a new project completely. What I was working on originally was just too complex and experimental to be rushed. I plan to go back to it later.

So what I ended up with is this simple ternary track, with each section being a slightly odd number of bars. I continued on with my explorations of Massive, which is where most of the sounds come from.

Earlier this week, I listened back to most of my tracks from this year. Enough time has elapsed that this project has become sort of like a diary. I can look back and see when I was really into trying to make house music, when I was really obsessed with a particular synth or a particular compositional idea. Each track reminds me of what was going on in my life at that time. Some of the tracks that I was really quite proud of at the time, now make me cringe a little. It's not a bad thing, it indicates growth I suppose. What I am most happy with is my writing and how I develop musical ideas. What I need to work on is developing a sound palette that feels good in my ear holes.

I'm looking forward to using next year to focus on refining a few tracks and working on my live set, but I think I'll miss WB, especially this diary aspect of it.

Epic but appropriately unpredictable. Certainly kept my interest.

I like the bass, I like this direction, but that's just me, if you think this is the right direction for you you should totally go for it.

Love everything that's going on here, but the bass really takes the cake.

Cheers! It's inspiring to find a bass synth I like, makes it so much easier to write.

awesome track. i guess i have missed out on your beats this year, but going back through them now and really enjoying your skills behind a keyboard. sounds are big, and really well mixed too. i also really enjoy the diary aspect of going back and listening to my previous works from weeklybeats. it's usually more cringe-worthy than anything, but inspires me to revisit those projects to apply new techniques. if only i could find the time now...

The palette of sounds and the mixing of the tracks are definitely elements that I feel have come a long way but I definitely need more practice, so thanks! Yeah, time is so often an issue, waaah!
