Titrai - Selfish

By atoru on January 12, 2020 11:35 pm

Made entirely in Maschine MK3 in the span of one evening on 12.1.2020. - about 4 hours.

Mixdown is done on headphones as all the neighbours are sleeping and I can not check the track on monitors, therefore it's probably bad smile

Nevertheless, done is better than perfect!

Tell me what you think, all feedback is welcome!

Sounds quite right to me. Thight kick, solid bass... are those your vocals?

Downloaded and enjoyed smile

Thank you laguna, glad you enjoyed it! smile

Vocals are from two splice samples, choped and pitched.

Thank you!

Really nice timbral variety!  Love the way things sound muted and mellow at points, then snappy and bright at others.

Thank you for the kind words smile

Timbral variety is actually something I struggle a bit in my productions. I often have a feeling that instruments and samples sound good muted and filtered, but then after comparing them to reference tracks I get a feeling that the track is not loud enough. I sometimes can fix this by reducing the bass and increasing the brightness on some instruments, but often they end up harsh if I push it to the target loudness. Do you maybe have an idea how to approach this?

your track is put together well. lounge, house and tech. what i specifically like about it is the contrast between the dark nasty bass and the high stabs of synth guiding the spacey melody.

Cool, a very detail and concise explanation. This is really helpful, thanks!
