Lost In Thought

By Ashtom on February 1, 2026 10:28 pm

This week, I wanted to try to record a higher pitched pad to see how it behaves when slowing it down on the tape. This time, I programmed a long playing pad on the Korg Wavestate and played it a E6 (or was it E7? Not sure anymore). Then I recorded it on the Tascam Portastudio at high speed over 2 tracks (to keep some stereo image) panned left and right. Finally, I played it at normal speed and fed it to the Endorphines Golden Master pedal direct to the Zoom L-12 to record. There I added the onboard plate reverb to try to add a bit of breadth to the sound.

Unfortunately, I didn't plan enough time for experimentation and the results are not as refined as I'd hope. The track feels a bit too smooth to me and lacks texture. I would maybe revisit it by adding a real bass tone/drone to it and tone down the low-mids.

But for now, this will have to do!

Thanks for listening and for any feedback!
Have a great week.

Salut Ashtom, i like it though, maybe just because there is only few texture and again i hear, see and feel the tiny reflections, moving slow and I see myself shifting through a space with weightlessness- i could also call it the universe... well done! I added it to my favourites.

Serene.  I zoned out while stupidly tryimg to type out a comment from my phone on a previous track, and was surprised that I had 1.) already strayed 5 minutes into this one 2.) was feeling incredibly peaceful, despite how aggravating it always is to type anything of substance on this phone.

It's usually tough to judge the success of an ambient track, but in this instance I'm confident you knocked it out of the park tongue

Tarkovsky vibes. Yes.

Thanks for your feedback! I guess it got the job done despite my first impression. I must admit that, listening to it again after a few days, it feels much better than I remember. Maybe I had some listening fatigue when I posted it.
