Funambulist

By Ashen Simian on February 8, 2020 5:31 pm

A lot of stuff here, probably way too much. Also a long track so I doubt that many will have the time to listen to it in its entirety. If you like more ambient tones, the first three minutes are for you. The last five are a sort of techno, with most of the frequencies in heavy use smile Korg DSS-1 featured heavily for most of the duration. Some piano and supersaw stabs from Roland Fantom XR. Otherwise it´s my usual stuff, just like the weeks before. Next time something more peaceful, I promise.

I listened to the whole thing because I think I get a little OCD about that sort of thing.  I don't like bailing on tracks, especially when I like them and I do like this.  From your description I thought there might be a kind of jolting contrast between the first and second parts, but it built up very naturally.  I dig the little mellow outro also.

I really enjoyed this one. Very relaxing and natural build up.

A tight rope walker. Who new that's what Funambulist meant? (not me).  Listening at work so I have plenty of time smile The composition is really a journey rather than a passive ambient piece. You have lots of beautiful synth lines unfolding in the mix. All meshing together well. I like how the complexity picks up slowly over time.  Lots of great sounds and textures. Well done!

looong sweeping phase/flange is really cool and inviting...gives a water kind of feeling or something.  I like how it evolves.  I think it's peaceful and nice

Thanks guys, and thanks for your patience smile  Generally I too try to listen to tracks in their entirety here, so many good ideas and moods every week.

Thanks a lot! This slow change and tracks evolving slowly is something I tend to do almost every time. I really can´t help it, it is something that speaks to me most profoundly. It is perhaps I usually try to create a mood and it seems to take its time for me. I promise I try to break the mould sometime here this year smile

mould or mold... both will do here wink

Bob Mould perhaps?

Absolutely wonderful! The track unfolds like a story and I was captivated from start to finish. Big fan of the phasing too!

It's totally funambulous! Love the ambient beginnings, the bass line, the twisty synth lead... YUM!

It's great background music, so I've given it a few listens.
