The Way Home

I haven’t played guitar for like the past 3 weeks so it was time to pick it up.
I have a lot of really high-pitched accents in this song, I hope they worked out.
I did a lot of mid-song reworking. There used to be more heavy guitars in the song, but I took them out because they were overbearing.

Sunday, Jan 14.
13:35 - 14:35. I’m going to look at Random Storykeeper’s MIDI and get a sense of what kinds of things she’s doing with her harmonies and melodies. Here’s the source song: http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/OHC483
Things to try:
- More velocity variation. I forget to do this on my songs a lot.
- Doing arps to establish harmony, instead of chords. I use a lot of block chords.
- Interesting chromatic decending scales.
- More syncopation
- Doubling up melodies on top of your arps.
14:35 - 16:55: That feeling when you want to just play guitar instead of doing arps? Damn it, that’s like starting over, but it’s always fun to be able to play guitar and noddle around.
Total time: 3h 20m
