Secret World

About the mysterious, hidden worlds that we might miss with simple gazes.

Notes: I started this song on Thursday, worked on it for about two or so hours, then deleted everything and started over. This week I did a really bad job with note-taking, so my time estimates are probably off by an hour or more.

More guitar, some fingerpicking attempts, light amounts of bass. Some glitch attempts.

Not exactly my best work, or my most focused, I had some issues with structure and direction and not enough inspiration to really direct my energies well. It’s a good learning experience, but it’s also frustrating.

Thu March 10, 8:14 - 8:59 PM.  Loose on-off composition.

Fri March 11, 8:15 - 8:43 PM. Tried to invent a sound and play around but didn’t get very far. Need to produce more, think less.

Fri, March 11, 9:00 - 9:45 PM. Very little progress has been made, I think I started off either too simple or too critical and I ended up making something slightly out of my comfort zone but also something that isn’t intuitively falling into place. Normally I get something after about one hour of working but this is looking grim.

… Okay RESET TIME and it feels better now. I spent maybe 15 minutes redoing a song idea.

Sat Mar 12, 11:20 - 12:20 PM. i - III - VI - III progression (or maybe more like vi -I - V - I which is actually more like it). I tossed out the rest of the work I did on Thursday/Friday.

Sun, Mar 13. 9:00 - 9:15 AM.

Resumed at 12:09 - 1:17 PM. There are a lot of ideas in this song, but they aren’t coming together structurally and I’m running out of time!

~1:45 - 2:17 PM.

I started again maybe around 2:50 - 4:13, but I’ve been really bad at notetaking this week. At this point I’m doing final mixing and production touches.

Time estimate: Maybe 6 and a half hours this week?

I like the drums in this a lot, I'd like to have seen you go more nuts with it though. More variation, more fills, more ghost notes, an acoustic snare to mirror the drum machine/drummer dynamic that's going on with the hats. If you're having trouble making your tonal parts come together in a structured way embracing the chaos is always another option

This is good advice and is a good thing for me to look at next week. Thanks!

The synth voice could use some more exposition, it's just one note but could cadence out the song.
