Flipped Down

I’m pretty unhappy with this song, the direction and the ambience I wanted to go for wasn’t initially working out, and then I kind of ran out of ideas and it became a little incoherent.

For the sake of WeeklyBeats, I tried to fill it in with random ideas, but it never really came together and it’s a bit of a mess as a result.

I did accidentally discover some cool sounds out of this, and I did use this as an opportunity to practice some live playing, but it doesn’t really work as a song overall.

Wednesday, July 20, 20:25 - 21:40. Laid down some chords and an initial melody. My guitar needs adjustment, it has fret buzz.

Thursday, July 21, 20:00 - 21:00.

Saturday, July 23, 9:20 - 10:20.

Saturday, July 23, 19:30 - 21:00.

Sunday, July 24, 9:30 - 12:10. The chorus is off-key. The piano feels like it’s out of tune but I’m not sure why because it’s not like I own a real piano.

Solution: Don’t use a piano sample.

Okay, I am not really happy with this song today. That’s too bad, but at least I did a bit of practice.

Total time: 5:35. Unfortunately, a lot of it was spent struggling.

Excellent piece and build up !

I completely feel you when you say you feel "directionless" in a song. Nevertheless, I hear pretty great ideas here. Maybe the first minute hesitates a little bit but it takes of to a very interesting synhty-poppy jam. Maybe revisiting it in a month or so will give you some clarity over it, but I truly think there are interesting ideas here
