Weekly Beats 2018 #5

By antler on February 4, 2018 4:56 pm

Back at it again this week, with a more up-tempo four-to-the-floor. Given the little time I had compared to some earlier weeks, fairly happy with the result. Wish I could've tweaked a bit more to mitigate some repetitiveness, and I'm not entirely content with the flute sound at the start.

What are your thoughts? smile

i really like the synth designs at the very end. the synths you had gained this massive presence that sat really well with my ears/brain. smile

Thanks! It's all made with one gameboy, so the sound design's always a challenge. Glad you like it smile

Sound is lovely... the gliding synth in beginning is damn sweet... i guess that's the flute... i like it wink

Haha, yeah, for so far as one can compare a gameboy synth to acoustic instruments tongue The sound + glides kinda reminded me of flute lines in traditional Japanese music. But thanks, sound design never was my forte, I've been trying to improve that skill smile

Nice tune as usual, well put together, sounds clean and has space! I like what's happening on the wav channel. You may try using a slow attack on the flute and mix in some noise smile

Hmm, iirc I tried slower attacks, but it's already on relatively low volume, so there wasn't much space to manouvre there. Breath noise is a very good idea actually, thanks!

The wonders of working in a DAW wink

Good stuff! Nice use of stereo space. Good WAV sounds! I dig those super narrow pulse beepola tones haha.

Good! Wasn't sure whether if I liked them when I put them in, but quickly fell in love, heh.

Love the bouncing arps and the excellent use of the stereo field.  That boing-boing sound is fun to hear fo sho! Nice work! smile

I appreciate a good chiptune and this is some good chiptune. You are much appreciated.
