Guitar Song 3

By Anon_Buster on August 30, 2020 3:12 pm

The word "speed trash" comes to mind when I look at this song. Wrote and mixed it in under two hours. It was an experiment with guitar and synthesizers that I turned into this week's track. Learned about using saturation and distortion to shape kick drums. The mix feels a little thin, sparse, but it's at least a submission. Next week, I'll hopefully have a guitar track to share; something hot and short, like the tracks I've been hearing from the Cobra Kai t.v. series. Man, old rock is pretty great.

It has a fun uplifting energy and I felt like it got kind of anthemic towards the end.  It will be interesting to hear an all guitar track.  And yeah, old rock is pretty awesome.  smile

Rock yeah! On rock you can crank that guitar if you want to on the mix. Your synths are very cool, don't worry but I really like your guitar and we are loosing it at many place on the song (Or there are parts without it?)

I had a couple of very quickly done track this year, most of them I am still happy to have released.

I don't feel that your mix feels thin, but a little crowded maybe even if there are not that many tracks?

Interesting mix of chiptune and guitar! You got a nice clear tone on that guitar, I wanted to hear more of it! I liked the synth lines you added there, that's a good speedtrash!

I always look forward to when you make use of guitar in your tracks. I love the way you experiment with mixing guitar and chiptune stuff. Cool experiment man, I really liked it.

Def feeling that uplifting vibe between the main synth and guitar.  The guitar outro leaves you wanting more smile

I haven't heard a guitar mixed with chiptune synths before but I know I like it now.

Thanks. I'm glad it came across that way.

I wanted to hide more of it. haha. I used an electric guitar and had Revalver imitate a bright acoustic guitar. Playing an electric guitar like an acoustic didn't work too well, so I lowered the volume on it and automated the volume throughout the entire track to hide how out-of-time it was and my mistakes.

Thanks. I'm still working on finding how to blend guitar and synthezier sounds. I'm getting closer. THe trouble is deciding if I want a track to be guitar focused or if I want the guitar to support the piece. I can't decide what I like more yet. Modern composers are making it hard because I love so many songs where the guitar is hidden, sometimes buried, in the background as a quiet, minor participant, like in the FFXIII soundtrack.
