YOU (feat. Chipocrite)

By an0va on February 9, 2014 5:30 am

I used Propellerhead's Figure iOS app for everything on this except for the vocals and the filtered chords!

I made a loop on Figure, multi-tracked it into Ableton, chopped up the loops, and mixed like crazy. I finally think I'm starting to get the hang of this production thing. Small steps for sure but it's definitely a learning journey.

If you're curious, here's what the original Figure loop sounds like: https://soundcloud.com/an0va/figure-test-1-at-peddlers

What's most funny about this is...I have no idea how to end a dance track. lol

P.S. - s/o to my brother Chipocrite for (unwillingly) providing the vocal 8)

d-d-dopeee stoked to hear more work in the future. pretty cool to hear you branching out smile

Thanks my dude! I've been listening to a lot of things, MESSAGES included, that make me really want to branch out and experiment more. Maybe a new alias will be coming in the near future...?

you...always pick the perfect pixtures hehe. man, this puts a great dang smile upon my lil face. pls do more like this

man, this is an awesome week. this is rad.

Nice! That hat/shaker thing sounds a bit too mechanical for me but I can't think about better replacement. Love the chords with portamento and the vocals

I can't stop watching the fighter gif fall on beat.  Loved the detuned part in the middle.

great work dude

solid seal clubbing track

Yup. This is legit. Excellent work.

Awesome track, +1 for sor gif

Great job as always, I also used the figure iOS app in my track this week

NO U

seriously dude are you yuzo koshiro or what

I could definitely bounce to this for hours on the dance floor! Good stuff!

daaaang you owned this. really impressive use of figure!

I love the idea of sequencing Figure loops into full tracks- I may have to do this for this week's submission! Sounds great man smile You totally know your way around Figure!

thanks homies! well to be honest it was 99.9% Ableton over Figure. All I did with figure was make the actual loop in a parked car in like 10 minutes, haha. It wasn't until I multitracked it into Ableton and chopped them like crazy that it started to actually form into an arrangement. Maybe I should upload the project file or something, I wonder if anyone would be interested in that? They'd see all my silly mixing decisions then hahaha

YOU-zo wink

this is amazing, but you already knew that. it's cool to hear this sound from you.

yo i like this

Nice work mate.  Always dig your stuff :-)  Great shakers.

it's crazy how far you can get with those little mobile sketch tools. I made a ton of demos using iMaschine on a train ride once. That's a cool one to check out too, if you haven't yet. It can get really nutty when you start sampling with the mic smile

Love the bass in this.  It has a steady mix of 80s/90s influence in it, which is why I like it.  It dances on it's own and makes you dance back smile

Thats a steady tune the vocal and chord hook really make it plus the mix is really crisp which make it nice to listen to.
