outside of chiptune, I'm a huge fan of technical, experimental "math rock." basically anything that sounds like don cab's american don has me sold. i keep telling myself one day i'll start a separate band to do this kinda stuff, but for now, nothing's stopping me from doing it all myself smile

started and finished on New's Years Eve.

Nice work! Got kind of an indie type feel to it, very nice.

woohoo, don cab! you did a great job! the recording sounds awesome, too. what setup did you use?

super great for being done in a day!  totally digging those drums too, nicely mixed.

this is fuckin sweet dude

Mathematical!

Really liking the old-school Battles/Don Cab thing.  Very good stuff (and I say this having seen the Don a bunch BITD). Bravo!

Jeez, this is so good, I really dig it. It's so well recorded and my brain is dying the ridiculously cool groove you've got going

yooooooooooooooo

It's like the guitar's saying "sevensevensevensevensevensevenseven."

(It's awesome, of course. Excellent work, DD.)

good stuff and so tight. nice

can i be in this band please

Dang, so nice!  Now all it needs is some suave young singer with a slightly crackly voice (but only when he sings quietly).  You win a favorite my friend.

Keep it up, this is really great! Don't know what I would say could be improved....

Excellent work!

Complex beats, yes please!

This is fuckin HOT

Had me at the intro. Those drums sound nice and full too. That's always what kills contemporary music for me. When drums have no snap and low end.

Thanks everybody! smile I'm always really self-conscious about my full band mixes, so it's good to hear that people really like the drums specifically.

The basic rig rundown was Ableton Live and its native mixing plugins, actually! I really like the Glue Compressor introduced in Live 9. It works great for busses!

wow, fucking great track! Don Caballero is one of my all time favorite bands and anyone creating music in this style is greatly appreciated! kudos.

Math is the ultimate truth, mate! From all that I heard so far here, this is the best one! The guitar, the drums, the theme, the rhythm, everything wins! At about 40%, that guitar blew my mind! Wish I had you for recording session of a movie song last week! big_smile

Cheerz to the awesomeness! 10/10. Fav. Win!

Bravo

fuck yeah dude. mad dap for those mad tapz

amazing stuff

Wow.  Wonderful harmonies.  This is great timing wise too... the drum programming is spot on.  The synths layer perfectly on top too!  This is pprrrrobably going to end up on a CD in the car at some point soon ;-)

Seriously. Fuck yes. Everything is so spot on in this track.

I noticed that this track was getting the most comments and I wondered why. Now I know. Fantastic.

great atmosphere - best from vienna, chra

man, really great skills! Very nice use of sounds and perfect mixing. Keep it up!

This is sounding really nice. Good job, DD!

super mathy o/\o

Top tune!

NICE!!!

Great! Can't wait to hear what else you come up with during the rest of the year!

Haven't ever heard your style acoustically, besides the short soundscape sections on your latest EP. I like it!

Nice track! I love hearing something in 7, love the layers of interwoven guitars, love the synth orchestrations - great work!

hot damn

so great to hear something in odd meter that grooves at the same time.

Absolutely love the rhythm, fantastic work dude!

Dude this is fucking amazzzingg. sounds so much like the good old stuff from Minus The Bear

This is great! heart

god damn

Great stuff man love it

Awesome! It makes me want to get into recording postrock/mathrock again. The drums sound great!

Wow!

awhhh tooo good.

solid Keigo Oyamada type vibe.

Wow, that's pretty amazing! Not a huge fan of mathrock but I guess that's because all "mathematical" stuff that I've heard was more like a constant noise. Yours is very musical.

I dig it. Very noodley. Got a Capn Jazz vibe to it.

wonerfull track! really enjoyed listening to it. Already it has paid of to get on this project^^ even tough I was late for the first week -.- but the next one fore sure XD

back for third listen ;-)

I listen to this every time I visit the site. Definitely my favorite track of the week. Can't wait to see what other amazing tracks we get on here. This was a great standard to start out with on Week 1 though

Mathgasm! Look forward to hearing some more stuff from you.

Dude, this is awesome. Looking forward to what you've got for week 2!

Really great! smile

Seriously kickass! Nice job on the feature! big_smile

Damn I missed this track last week.  I'm awful at different time signatures and I wish I could learn them better or get a better feel, so the second I heard the guitar and drums flowing so well, my jaw dropped.  Really great groove to this, great job!

yo yes

very nice piece

Wow! This is great! Can hear a bit of Don Cab in there, but also loads more. Ace guitar and drums. Favourited!
