Week 29: Record live into laptop from Nanoloop #2

By AMD24 on July 21, 2024 7:03 pm

!DO NOT LISTEN!

Only uploading this so I have something for this week

I bought some cables but the recording quality is awful (assuming because recording via aux to microphone?). If anyone knows a way round please let me know

Anyway, wanted to use the "change loop length" feature of nanoloop which irons itself out when the stuff is programmed. Spent so much time trying to get it not to sound tinny I didnt get very far but there you are, unless a lovely member of this site has any advice think I'll leave it there for trying to record live

I PROMISE I DIDN'T LISTEN

this is what WB is for, learning how to do stuff because you are forced to submit a track.  otherwise you could just "figure out how to do it later" and we all know how that goes!

for a higher quality recording, you'll need an "audio interface" but there are some really inexpensive easy ones out there.  let me know if you need more help with that.

I LIED; I LISTENED! smile

You cheeky wee sod ya

Cheers for the info, this is really helpful to know! If you have any links to ones you recommend or know of a good resource / place for me to go research this I would be very very grateful for the tips! smile I was quite demoralised to be unable to get it to work after so much fiddling so very happy to hear there is a solution out there. thanks again for taking the time to impart this wisdom!

What kind of computer do you have?

what cables did you buy?  you're going straight out of a Game Boy?

You could actually get a Behringer U-Control UCA222 interface

Gameboy -> 3.5mm jack cable with L/R RCA at other end -> UCA222 into Computer via USB

you can get it at Sweetwater for $17.90

If you want to spend $50-$100, you could get something else and do other things like microphones or guitar cables, etc.

let me know!  (quote this comment so I'll get a reply)

I have a beefy HP Omen (expensive way to watch youtube). I'm using the ios version of Nanoloop so its coming from my phone, have iphone something (one without an aux), so bought an aux to lightning and an aux splitter so i could hear what i was doing

The lightning port on my phone is becoming a little inconsistent with charging, just in case that makes a difference!

You're time, advice, and help is very much appreciated buddy smile

okay awesome, so definitely get that Behringer interface, and get a 3.5mm to RCA cable

something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-Adapter-Splitter-Connects-Smartphone/dp/B09GW6JHY6

and you should be good to go!

phone>lightning adapter>3.5mm to RCA cable>UCA222>Computer

bada bingo
