The Picture That May Be

I will say it again and again that what I love most about VCV Rack is its sequencers. And for those that can be put away by its "electronicness" here I am using just orchestral sounds from the free Spitfire BBC Orchestra. I used a polyphonic Touring Machine that has its constant output randomized by a poly Bernoulli Gate. I found this created quite a convincing piano line alternating between chords and single notes. In a similar manner I added flutes, pizzicato strings and timpani + tubular bells to create a soundtrack-like piece. I plan on developing the technique to be able to generate a theme -> development type of sound, because right now the sound is just freely generating (which still makes it nice, but I like an added challenge).

Cool! The piano part is surprisingly good. I made an initial impression reading the description, as one does, and I was expecting more random chaos, but it is very harmonic and nice. I can't tell if it ever changes key, but it does hint at other harmonies, and that keeps it interesting. The orchestral parts starting at around 3:45 are SUPER DOPE for me!!! They actually give the piece a super nice intensity arc. If you make up a story about the song, presenting it as more than the technique used to achieve it, I think you can fool a lot of people into thinking it is a lot more deliberate than it is big_smile Really well done!
