Moving to the Light

By Aletheia on May 22, 2022 12:40 pm

My first Weekly Beats (2020) started with me doing generative patches in a software called VCV Rack as it seemed the perfect avenue to make sure I'll do something regularly. I gradually found inspirations to move back to hardware and instruments but from time to time I did check back the nice VCV. At some point last year it reached version 2.0 with loads of enhancements and recently I began doing patches again on a more frequent basis. Since Vangelis died this week I figured I could do a little tribute to this fantastic character of the music history, one that I could call one of my earliest inspirations. Now the track doesn't necessarily touch his sounds and techniques, it's just an offering for his departure.

If you are curious to see the (mess of) cabling on the virtual rack there is a video of the patch here:

RIP Vangelis - he has been the source of emotional power behind so many key movies.

Epic track with a subtle buildup. The mix is fascinating - with these percussive elements in the back, drown in reverb and delay. This is really beautiful.

The passing of Vangelis is sad news, but your track has a nice mood! smile

Nice heartfelt track! beautiful synth voices going in and out, reminds me of orchestral music but also of outer space.
