Blazing Solstice

By Aletheia on December 20, 2020 10:18 pm

It's been a more difficult time creatively. Over the week I tried and ditched several ideas, but towards the end of it I barely managed to get something going. Then yesterday I had a headache and couldn't work at all at the song. So today I thought I should make it really rock since it marks getting over hesitations and pullbacks. I grabbed my electric guitar and recorded rhythms and melodies (both clean and distorted) over an E minor ostinato, drums coming from the excellent Rock Drum Machine by Lumbeat. At the end I played the wooden flute to bring a different sound and make it as a call to nature...which fits the fact that tomorrow is the solstice. Enjoy the darkest of days and then let the light increase in us all.

Great guitar sounds!  Like a wall of sound. Excellent drums as well.  Really well articulated and intricate. Happy Winter and end to 2020.  One more week to go!

Sorry about the headache!  That's the worst for music.

I might want the drums louder, but I like the guitar a ton.  Flute was a nice touch.

This is epic. It feels like the sky is being set on fire once again.

Thank you! Yes, that app has great quality and sounds very convincing - also it's much easier to get variation and different rhythms than the "industry standards".

Listening to it with a fresh mind I think you are right about the drums. It's always better to mix on a different day than the arranging but as I said, had to finish it quickly smile)
