out towards and beyond

as of yesterday (saturday) i really wasn't sure what i was going to do for weeklybeats this week. the end of a quarter always feels monumental, though ultimately it's just another week. i've also been obsessed with some succulent gardening for the last few weeks and it has taken up time i was spending on music (though it's a good break from screens, couches, and other sources of bad posture).

so, i decided i should try to stick to something more simplistic than i've been doing the past few weeks. i used imaschine as a source (this time not while commuting though), came up with drums, and some little melodies i thought fit on top of it kinda cool. but when it got to building out a set of sequences i struggled a little. i tried to build it up to something, and bring it back down at the end, but the climax is where i ultimately second guessed the most. i almost took this part out at the last minute, but then it felt like it was missing so i put it back for anyone who listens to be the judge.

i think there's potential here and i'd like to work on this one some more going forward after i've taken a break from it, but this is what i came up with for now! hope you enjoy.
