This week I chose just a single record at random, and took a bunch of chops from it. I got very lucky, and found a ton of great stuff including 4 different samples that were loopable. I chose one with a heavy ride, eq'd most of the bass out of it, slowed it down a little, and looped it. The female vocal was another sample that was great, and I chopped it in to pieces and played a few in to a new melody. Drums, and bass are virtual instruments. And lastly, I put the trumpet in to add something to bring it together.
I have been reading "the mixing engineer's handbook" lately and used a bunch of ideas from what I've read so far. If you have any mixing book suggestions, please let me know! I feel like I've had a lot of success already with this one and am looking for some more.
Also, sorry for not responding to comments, or doing much listening, the last 2 weeks, I've been on a little vacation, but I'll be catching up this week!
here's the record the samples are from - https://www.discogs.com/S%C3%A9rgio-Mendes-Brasil-66-Herb-Alpert-Presents-Sergio-Mendes-Brasil-66/release/9821136 . enjoy!
