Found some weird vocal chops in imaschine, and came up with a little 4 bar loop around them back in July, but I couldn't think of how to make it more than just 4 bars. So, for this week's beat, I took an attempt at fleshing that out. I am not 100% pleased with the transitions, but I think it is a pretty cool beat so hopefully you think so too.

same flow as other beats recently, composed in imaschine, tracked it out, and mixed in logic.

This is really hot - the kick drum sounds stellar.  Did you do compression/sidechain compression or any mastering kind of stuff?  This is so.......H O T

oh wow, didn't expect that, thank you so much! I consider myself amateur at everything, so i roll up some amount of "mastering" in to my mixing/production process. imaschine gives you 4 instrument tracks, so i compose loops, and then order them, and then i export it down to stems (separate out kick, snare, lids, synths, etc to to their own tracks), then i start to mix that where i try to simulate as if they were real musicians (drums bus, keys bus, bass bus), and then i basically try to filter out as much low end from everything that isn't the kick/bass until it makes things sound thin, at which point i start using compression and noise gates to make things duck the kick. i think the result here is somewhat a result of my process, but also somewhat a result of no bassline, or other instruments doing much of anything in the <400hz realm. leaves the kick a nice fat space.

dang.  um, this process makes me look like a total n00b.  wink
awesome work and thanks for the tips!!

ha! I feel like your beats always sound way more polished/full than mine, so I refuse to believe that smile. here's a look at the mixing board (i think only 2 plugins are not stock, one is a delay, one is vinyl crackle on the stereo out) https://s3.amazonaws.com/lukestebner-blog/photostream/Screen+Shot+2018-12-03+at+2.23.10+PM.png

A lesson in believing in yourself and your abilities, maybe?
