House On Ashes

By AdB on January 25, 2026 1:19 pm

I had been working for a while on a chord sequence for this week's track, only to erase it by mistake, never to be found again in the Digitone limbo. It was supposed to be a kind of ambient, Blade Runner-esque kind of song.

The sound kit however was still there, and I took it to a different direction. Tempo speed up, syncopated bassline and a too heavy sidechain on the kick track? Yes, it's me trying to do house!

Everything still made on the Digitone, live take recorded into Audacity where a bit of EQ was applied to some loud bass notes. A month in and I can tell that I barely scratched the surface of this machine.

This is dedicated to all sequences lost in the WeeklyBeats process.

Cheers!

I really enjoy all the sounds in this track, they all blend and work well together. I don't have a favorite part because it's all my favorite. Sounds like a soundtrack for a retro futuristic game smile

The main fuzzy synth over the thump-thump-thump-thumpthmpmpmpmp rhythm makes for a cool vibe when it's really cooking along.

🥲🫗

There are no lost sequences, only happy little accidents wink
any sequence lost is another sequence born

v nice track, it's a bop, loving the house-y beat and bass

The first sequence walked so this one could run. Little glitchy, little jazzy...it's like what I wish vaporware was.

Super cool modal vibe with the various chord stabs, really nice wacky arp lines, and that groovy pedal bass just chilling on one note for a while. My alley!!!

Bass does lots of other cool things in the track tho. just what caught my attn

Thank you very much! Yeah I agree with the retro soundtrack thing, this is always something I return to when making music haha - must've been playing too much videogames as a kid big_smile

I have to say that I ended up liking this track very much so yeah, feeling kind of grateful that the first sequence vanished into thin air - that being said, I am glad I learnt how to properly exit projects on the Digitone haha

Thank you so much for this comment especially regarding the vaporwave thing, I love this genre and tried multiple times to take it in a more personal direction. It was not my intention with this one but still, your comment means a lot to me, thanks!

Thank you so much for listening, I spent some time with the chord mode of the Digitone keyboard, it's well made and gives a lot of freedom. Still need to buy a proper midi keyboard tho lol
