Hi again! Great to be back doing Weekly Beats. Here is a crazy song to start the year how I intend to continue: A Drum and Bass song in 6-8. A lot of the song is based off a sample of an owl I took out in the woods (a male Tawny owl which explains the "twoo" in the title (the "twit" is the female))

Stick around for: Live drums into programmed drums; guitar parts; vocals eventually ("looking down on you"), and a pitched version of the owl sound into the main flute-like tune you hear throughout.

Made with LMMS and Logic Pro X (for the recordings) - enjoy!! The song changes through many styles it's quite wacky.

And last of all Welcome to Weekly Beats for all those who are new!! Here's to 2020.

Hi, Tom! Glad to see you back for another year !!!

The structure of the song is certainly interesting, and the semi-acoustic elements give it a somewhat epic feeling. I think it would fit easily with The Witcher episodes I was watching a couple of days ago

The mix sounds quite powerful. Are you running LMMS on the Mac? (my short experience with a later build was a little unstable, but I'm not very familiar with it).

It's quite a brave departure from your early ShyFX/Subfocus tracks, though I love both styles.

Thanks! no, I had enough trouble with the Mac build that I'm using bootcamp (Windows) - have to switch between OS and Windows with a restart which is a bit of a pain but worth it!

I've been obsessed with Tame Impala these past couple years, which has led me on a completely separate path towards recording, not to mention the music tech degree I'm now studying which has further stretched the directions I want to go with music. Weekly beats is a nice break to just let go a bit and mash all the genres together, haha. Hoping to find my sound this year.

I don't know what to say other than I really really like this. There's such a wide array of ideas that seamlessly flow into one another that I'm amazed. It reminds me of artists like Ott and Kettle & Secede, or something that would fit in a quirky action game like Nuclear Throne.
