In the time since my last weekly beat, I purchased a pair of KRK Rokit 6 monitor speakers. I have gone back to the long drawn out method of making songs (I like to call it an "erosion" method) as opposed to the weekly technique I began this year. Although I am going to do this for the next few neuro songs.
I've been trying to get snare compression and of course mixing/mastering in general up to a better standard. I made a 4 bar loop on my laptop speakers in 5 minutes to demonstrate how easy it was to produce this particular sub-genre of dnb, and to prove my point the people who usually listen to this music, without prompting, complimented on my "wubs" and so I completed the song for fun, including a video sample at the request of a committed wub supporter. I hope you can enjoy/endure. Made it in a day last week. Made with LMMS (still) and using the amen break which is audible from the beginning.

Well, I'm a little old for neurofunk and the whole two/hardstep thing. An old fella, more into Source Direct and Adam F than Bad Company. That being said, I think you nailed that sound.

It's fun to be back on our "first" genre, considering your d'n'b roots. Anyway, I think you are closer to a High Contrast / SubFocus sound today IMHO smile

What do you think of the KRKs? Do they "exagerate" the bass a little bit?

I'm not into neuro either really, but it's a way to get the attention of people I know! Thanks for your kind comments, to sound anything like sub focus or high contrast is great.

The KRKs, having front-firing bass ports, definitely have enough (maybe a little too much) bass. Luckily there are small adjustments you can make with controls on the back so I have turned the lower frequencies down a bit. I'm still getting to grips with the punch of low frequency percussion, but overall they're very well balanced and clear, better than anything I've ever had before and very much worth the money!
