Psyberpspace

PSPAAAAAAACE!!! Honestly this track kinda started out as a joke, I wanted to do something Psytrance / Psytech-y or Psy-something because the tentative theme seemed to be "through time" so I figured something psychedelic because there's a lot of space / time related junk with that subgenre.

I did this track in 5/4 because it seems every psychedelic EDM producer or DJ seems to get off talking about how their music expands the consciousness and transcends boundaries when it's always formulated and in 4/4. If that's not hypocrisy then I don't know what is. Don't get me wrong I think psychedelic music is awesome, I just wish more people could focus on making music that is actually unique instead of talking about how unique their music is and not living up to their claims.

Opinions aside, I actually really enjoyed working on this. I'm starting to understand the appeal of more repetitive music now. By focusing a song on a single theme / idea, I can put more emphasis on adding subtle variations in the individual instruments instead of making variations so large that the song feels broken up or confused (though honestly I like my songs to feel that way to a certain extent since it reflects certain aspects of my personality and feels more genuine).

BLAH BLAH BLAH WORDS WORDS WORDS

Oh yeah and this makes 20/100 songs promised this year. I'm falling a bit behind but I plan on catching up once this school quarter is over. I'll be posting all of my newest tracks on my soundcloud when I get around to it.

I enjoyed this! Not sure I could tell the 5/4, but time signatures have always confused me :$ I don't think I ever did anything outside of 3/4, 4/4 stuff :$
