80s Racing Game

By 2PLAYER on March 22, 2014 10:08 pm

Rocking out with some more midiNES. I told a friend of mine I would make a song called "80s Racing Game". This is the outcome.

those echo tricks sound GREAT on the NES. This is pretty authentic sounding too- it's exactly what I would expect from an NES racing game.

MIDINES!!! big_smile
Great work, It's always a lot of fun making a MidiNES track (Specially with the noise channels)

Totally! The melody lines are very memorable too, and the break section about midway through take me to that lovely, odd, atmospheric place that only chiptunes seem to bring me sometimes...nice work!

Yeah this is legit. I'd say you nailed the vibe in your title.

Haha, "loop twice and fade."

Yes. I really enjoy writing tracks with it. Actually, I can probably write the fastest for it at this point so that's an added bonus. Though I never really know what to do with the noise channel outside of some high hats and backup for the dpcm snare.

That will probably be my favorite tag during this whole year.

Your midines work is incredible!
Vibe of this tune reminds me of TMNT III for some reason smile

Wow, that is actually really what I was shooting for. Thanks for the compliment! Tried to aim for that surf-rock-esque vibe that those games have. I only named it what it is because i couldnt think of a better name and I told my friend i would use his name.

Ya thats really awesome, I thought it was famitracker. It takes a lot of skill to do this with mnes.

Thank you smile. I still cant get used to fami so listening to what someone has made in that is still impressive to me. I enjoy hand editing all my CC parameters throughout the song. I admit sometimes it can get very tedious but I tend to get very nit picky about things that no one else will probably notice or hear so its a good way to satisfy that aspect of my writing.

hee hee funny

The piece is great!  Great tones and melodies--awesome with the harmony parts, as well.  I kept steering off the road, though.
