The Journey (VIP)

By 2haf on January 18, 2026 9:09 pm

Couldn't let this one gather dust. Spent 10% of this VIP on the tune and 90% trying to make the snare sound not bad.

Funny how sometimes the most time has to go to fine-tuning that one detail when the track is so close to being ready to go. šŸ˜… Definitely been there before, and it sounds like a few others this week mentioned something similar. Beautiful piece as always though, and I’d say the work on the snare totally paid off!

The tale of the snare. Engineering will be the death of many of us. This one is beautiful. Keep rolling 2026!

I love the atmosphere of this track. The breakbeat against the huge pad has an epic scale. The quiet section with the violin like insturment around 2:15 is magical. The whispers are a very nice touch to ground us, take us to a more intimate place. I get a Ghibli-like magic feeling out of this track.

Haha ... Welcome to the "Is that snare too loud? too weak?" club, 2Haf!

BTW, it sounds perfect to me, on big 8 inch M-Audio BX8a monitors. Extra KUDOS for dropping some classic breaks as fills.

Composition wise, it's beautiful. As usual smile

Best 4 minutes and 11 seconds of my Monday, so far

Snare sounds great over here! Good job!

This music always makes me want to look at the sky and day dream, it's so relaxing yet engaging!

It sounds good man heart

Great opening with the piano and thank you for keeping it as a lovely counterpoint to the breaks. Snare sounds solid to me!

Loving this! Yeah that snare drum journey is a hard one! At least I don't have to chase samples here, crank it a bit more-swap it around, etc...

Great arrangement.

This is a solid track. Super 'spacious'. Great drive. Nice snare sound wink.

The vynl pops sound like rain drops, idk how you did that but it shows you put a lot of work into this song. Great song.

Goddamn this is awesome.  Snare sounds great, love the contrast with the low cut on the fills.   The barely audible voice samples hiding in the bridge are cool too.

Snare sounds just fine, time well spent!  This is so lush and smooth as butter, another great tune.  Really like those whispering vocals that come in at 2:10 with the wonderful strings.  This track fits perfectly this week as on the ride home from work I have been listening to LTJ Bukem's "Logical Progression Level 1", could easily be on that compilation.

Very lush and beautiful. I don't usually go for this style of "clean" DnB, but this really hits! Nice job.

I love that icy little synth part in the background. Is that FM or a rompler? Also I was not expecting dnb when I first heard it, but I loved that build up and drop.

You always build up such lovely atmospheres, love how delicate everything is! Great chill track

such an uplifting feel especially when the drums filter into high gear.  **nods head in time** pianos sound so good sparkling in between the strings and dnb groove. Love that filtered fill back into the drums.

the pad has an expansive atmosphere. string section and piano gave me Ghibli feel, too, Kedbreak136 smile
