Mind to Earth

This is my first microtonal (or xen-harmonic?) song.
It exclusively uses 2 microtonal scales, one where the octave is divided into 5 and one with 9 notes, mostly 5.

I have been interested in this idea about harmonic-sounding music outside of the traditional chromatic scale ever since hearing Caftaphata, a song I highly recommend.
Many of the microtonal chords used in that song sound much nicer than what we normally think of microtones.

Earlier this week I saw a short video about how the intervals between Schumann resonances, which are sometimes said to have healing or spiritual properties, are actually dissonant.

I don't have any beliefs about the Schumann resonances, but I thought I could try taking the intervals between the Schumann resonance frequencies and find some harmonies.

The second order of the Schumann resonances is almost 4/5 notes above the fundamental mode in 5-TET tuning.
The third order is almost 4/9 notes above the second order in 9-TET tuning.
The song uses these intervals and many related intervals.

I am happy how this worked out.

Love the build and atmosphere in this. I haven't worked much with microtonal scales myself, but this sounds like a successful experiment

peaceful!

I really like the slow build up of the background athmosphere!
