Dorian's Dance (or: The Accidental Cannon)

By vinpous on April 1, 2012 1:34 pm

Last minute job the night before, but I quite like this piece so I'll probably develop into a longer piece (and actually work the form/cannon a bit better).

I like it.  Great effort for the time you had.  Live piano or midi?

April 2, 2012 6:15 am

Samples controlled by MIDI (as opposed to GM), composed in less than an hour start to finish. I can't play piano at all! big_smile

Done well seeing you didn't play it in a live take.  Nice work on tempo control

Sibelius. It's all notated. Rit -------| and Accel -------| tongue

Thanks though, I love compliments. big_smile

Ohhohh. This is really good. More! More! Sounds a bit too far away though - come closer (or play louder) smile

Yeah, I put a bit of reverb on it due to the reasonable averageness of the Sibelius samples. I like things to be a bit quieter so that the dynamic contrast in the forte sections stands out more!

heart Sibelius : ) Very nice piece, Vinopus

*Vinpous(!!!)

lol. Okay so the site just frakked up and posted my comment before I was composing it!!

What I was going to say, amongst other things, that it was a little Debussy-esque. And it was very lovely to hear som solo piano "performed" by a fellow local smile

*finished.

I give up. Time for dinner =/

The general consensus seems to be that I should sooner-rather-than-later develop this piece into something more substantial!

Thank you, Poppi, for your many comments! I adore Debussy's music, particularly his piano music, so the "it's a little Debussy-esque" is a wonderful compliment, thank you! A local? You're in Melbourne?
