WeeklyBeats.com / Music / Pongball's music / Fond Memories
I thought I'd start my WeeklyBeats adventure by finishing a WIP I'd been wanting to finish for ages. I started this piece back on Father's Day last year in a one hour compo, but left it sitting unfinished until now. The theme of the compo was "fond memories", so I just kept it as a title, since it fits better than anything I could come up with.
Those familiar with Yasunori Mitsuda's music will definitely notice a strong influence from his PS1 era work (namely, Chrono Cross and Xenogears).
I'm still getting used to writing full-production music with fancy samples and stuff, but I think this is my best attempt so far (maybe!). It's the first time I've put a lot of work into humanization, especially by varying the tempo (though it could probably use more dynamics).
The song is actually about a minute and a half long, but loops twice.
Enjoy!

Awwww, thanks. :> I used EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Choirs, and also some instruments that came with Sonar's Dimension Pro VST.
Nice work, I love the tone of it, great use of the instruments
Ahhhh... will have to look into some of these sample packs.... Good choice of instrumentation and the flute part is done incredibly well.
Nice work! The dynamics sound good and those samples are great.
Thanks for the comments! (Btw, there was supposed to be a plus sign between the words "Orchestra" and "Choirs" in my comment above...I guess WeeklyBeats doesn't like plus signs.
Anyway, Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choir are two different sample libraries.)
its peacefull and it is perfect for relaxing!
aww, you are also in here, thats a pleasure
Nice, i like the melody!
Hi Wheely! Thanks guys. ![]()
this is why i wish i could track snes
So different than what I was expecting here! Very nice melody.
i feel emancipated! or is it emasculated... anyway, it's cinematic like the never ending story or final fantasy, a breath of fresh air! ![]()
purdy! i think i just kawaii'd in my underpants.
that's a pretty accomplished bit of composing there, I like your tempo usage, know it's hard to get that right. Very natural sounds.
This is sooooooooooooo good. What sample libraries are you using?
