Halfway to a Middle Way

By Plantrain on March 23, 2014 8:41 pm

This week's been all about playing with new toys or learning new tools, depending on how you look at it.
Got myself the Sector and Samplr apps, and the Volca Beats arrived in the mail. So this track is as much about learning to use the new instruments and figuring out how they can fit into my workflow, as it is about actual composition.

My starting point was a quick loop recorded on acoustic guitar that I loaded into Sector and Samplr and then recording a beat from the Volca to go with it. More of a meditation on a loop than a song, but I liked the mood in it and decided to keep it simple.

By the way: this track probably wouldn't have been made had it not been for the inspiration from the people here making so much magnificent music with Sector and Samplr that convinced me to try out those instruments myself, so this is a weekly beats submission inspired by other people's weekly beats.

This might be a good time for me to say a big thank you to all the people in this project for making so much incredible music and through that providing so much inspiration!

Some very nice moments in there to spice up the smooth ride

Your song also inspired me, as another Samplr user, to try new approaches. Really nice track, I was headnodding without even noticing.

Sometimes the quality of all your submissions is astonishing. smile

wonderful track. nice and mellow. love the little cracks. didn't even notice you used a volca in there.

Striking track, the tone of the sub kick works so well in this.

So delicate and beautiful. I like the subtle glitches, and the use of guitar and electronic sounds is rewarding in this great track!

i love the calmness of the track, between the pads and the guitar line which has such a contemplative feel to it.  This could be the soundtrack to drifting down a serene river at night.  Great job! smile

soooo beautiful!!! Backing Tone Matrix's comment: Soundtrack stuff! And thanks for the reminder to go back to Samplr, awesome app. But nonetheless aweseome what you made out of it, great job!

Hey wonderful stuff here .. subtle yet engaging, nice one.

Nice, I love hearing acoustic sounds on here.

Thanks everybody!
