Hail - Matthew Conley (Phillipe Grishin Remix)

By PhillipeGrishin on January 19, 2014 11:18 pm

Many moons ago an adventurous perusal of soundcloud groups led me to a chance encounter with the incredible work of Matthew Conley with which I was utterly amazed. The crisp production, vintage samples, inventive sound design, magic melodies and massaging bass led my mind into an other dimension ; on a journey through the past, to the future.
Upon my return to the present I was presented with an opportunity to work on this remix.Inspired - I took on the challenge, half privileged half daunted. I can only hope that you have as much fun listening, as I did making it.

Matthew is currently in the lab cooking up his new project; if his last work is anything to go by it will be a masterstroke of genius that will exhibit his skill as one of the most creative and talented producers of our time... (no pressure then)

so make sure to sign up to his mailing list on his site
www.matthewconley.com
where my remix and the original will be made available in about a week.

Check out his soundcloud :

and like him on facebook

and please like, share and comment - let me know what you think of my remix!

Thanks for all your support

any suggestions of what I can do about it? Tried to get it as loud as I could without peaking and this is where I'm at...

i like using saturation and just a touch of comoression usually

compression

Really digging the crispness and preciseness of instruments - nice work!

thanks for the tip! I tried it but couldn't get a nice balance and kept peaking... I tweaked it but couldn't get the result I was looking for...

I'm quite happy with the mix so far tho

thanks again for the tip.. I'll try it on future compositions and see where I get...

compression is really difficult to use... to err on the side of too little is best
