Serenade

By Perplex On on August 9, 2014 1:26 pm

Initially i started off with recording some electromagnetic noises and hums at home and at work with my new induction coil pick-up. It's fun and also kind of spooky to hear and recognize how strong some magnetic fields are around yourself. Since i'm always a fan of let things getting a bit out of control i setup some tracks in ableton with a few of the recorded noises modulating each other (with m4l lfo's, amplitude follower, vocoder, resonator).

I also played a bit with a reaktor patch for emulating string instruments called Serenade. It's an awesome device and especially when controlled with my leap motion it's so much fun and really expressive. But on the other hand it's also hard to master. As you can hear i have to practice a lot more. smile I'm sure a real string instrumentalist will wrinkle his nose and no question a real instrument sounds 1000 times better, but for absolute novices like me it gives you a tiny clue of how playing a violin/cello could feel.

Cello or "Cello" -- sounds pretty good to me. The only time I wrinkle my nose is when there's a skunk in the yard :-)

You really had me puzzled once the string started... Fascinating!

I didn't knew what to expect, maybe some subtle modulations but... Man, I mean, of course this is no classic cello but... I'm still stunned.

Noisy and spooky, yes, but highly creative. You manage to keep me really impressed week after week.

Great!

This is freaking awesome. I want an induction coil now. Really, really well done.

Wow, this is fantastic stuff! I love all the sounds from the pick-up and the Serenade patch sounds lovely. And you put it all together in an awesome composition. Bravo!!

After reading the text, I too didn't know what to expect:)

This is great!

Wicked sounds

Great track!  Love the mad cello work.  Good idea incorporating the leap motion into it.

Wonderful track, and some great sounds in there! The electromagnetic sounds and the cello work very well together. Well done!
