Mr. Fox learns to dance

By Perplex On on February 16, 2014 6:47 pm

This week Mr. Fox learns to dance! I tried to do something more straight and for the floor. Something like my interpretation of techno. Due to lack of time it's still quite rough around the edges and the transitions are far away from super slick, but i kinda like the dirty feeling in it. What do you think?

The barking fox sample is taken from freesound.org.

great groove!

hot!

I would surely prefer this on the dancefloor to a lot of other mainstream shit wink

This is where my heads been lately. Great groove. I like its unrefined texture a lot.

Nice beats, awesome track dude.

Great track, in my opinion the rough edges keeps it much more interesting than most mainstream techno.

Mr. Fox has got the moves alright!

Ah Freesound, you gotta love the place smile really like the vibe of this one and it really chugs along nicely (techno's also become quite underrated in my opinion), and the drop at the end is really sweet! I'd maybe compress the drums just a little bit more for extra pump, but thats just me and I'm a sucker for drum compression tongue the foxes that used to get around near my place in London would totally get down to this too i reckon!

Thanks a lot! And yeah, maybe you're right. I tend to be a bit cautious about compressing to much, but in this case it could have fit the track. I'll keep that in mind!

Still massively impressed with your detailed edits and mixing/mastering technique, everything is so crisp!
Now, when making my own tracks and I get that "it would be cool to have some more ear candy but I'm starting to feel lazy"-feeling I sometimes catch myself thinking "someone Perplex On would probably spend the extra hours adding little details" and then feel guilty and keep at it a bit more! big_smile

Love how the intro melted right into the beat.  That main synth is awesome and Mr. Fox is getting down with his bad self!  If there are any rough edges, I think it's what gives the track character.  That dirty squelchalicious filtered beat is badass.  I like that e.piano breakdown towards the end as well.  Someone gave Mr. Fox the red pill smile

Didnt hear many rough edges. The song just has an awesome gritty feel to it. Not to mention its catchy as hell.

Really catchy stuff. That glitch is groovy

This one works good! Love the use of the panning and the transitions are ever so smooth. I like the fact that youre stepping away from your usual sounds but i really liked the end when that piano comes in for a second. ON your next tek production i would like to see you meet more in the middle with your reg style, but thats just my taste. Excellent track again!

Fantastic, I think the dirty feeling of this track is what makes it stand out, gives it an industrial techno feel, I would like to hear more like this.  Title fits the track, it does sound like a fox is tearing up the dance floor!

Clinical and groovy at the same time. The mix sounds great. Perfect!

awesome! very polished mix.

love this

This track is better than most stuff written 'for the floor'.  Some cool breaks later in the track too!

Yeah, I had that thought, too. Tight track.

What a drop, at the end! big_smile
I dig the rough feel too, makes it feel way more organic and interesting this way. It's almost like being able to see the brush strokes in a painting.
