Interludium

By Perplex On on September 18, 2014 4:22 pm

Time was the enemy this week, so all i could go for was a tiny interlude-style track. It was a happy accident i came across a temporarily publicly available piano in a park while going for a walk in a quiet minute. So i took the chance to tinkle the ivories for some seconds and do a crappy recording with my mobile. Afterwards i took it apart with the iOS apps Sliver and Samplr and spiced it up with some Moog Filtatron (also iPad). There's a lot of ambient noise going on here, people, trains, birds, water, etc., but i like it because it's a snapshot of this very moment.

Hope to deliver some more elaborated stuff next time!

Thanks a lot for listening! And sorry for not coming back to your tracks the last week, i will try hard to catch up very soon!

P.S. The picture above was taken at this very spot, i thought it could fit the mood.

It works very well as an interlude-style ambient track.  I really like the wavering quality of it.  I always think there's something to be said for recording in unusual places and including the sort of natural background sounds you find there. Somehow it adds a little more "life" to things than just a sterile recording environment.

Love this!! The ambient noise, the piano, the story of how you made it, the picture, everything!
I feel like half the art of making something great is seizing and acting upon moments like that.
Seeing a piano and actually taking the time to sit down and record something. Awesome! big_smile

This song is full of life. Love the fieldrecordings.

Elaborate not compulsory.  smile Lovely capture under the heavy treatment

Fantastic "salvage job." Works beautifully,

And the sneakers over the phone line add the perfect touch.

Beautiful song, beautiful picture! I would love to find a piano in the woods!

Really beautiful mood, picture and story... really enjoyed your reflection on that moment... really love the nostalgic quality to the samples... almost reminiscent of vinyl.. and as always... ur grasp of the application of technology is inspiring...

Agreed: this is really beautiful.  Loving the noise and slight wobble, too.  Cinematic!

incredible what you can pull out of such crappy gear as an iphone wink wink

gorgeous tune and cover!

very nice work, sir.

Beautiful music, with a wonderful back story. The melodic and ambient sounds blends very well!
