Sinister

By orangedrink on April 3, 2016 8:08 pm

This is another song that's been "in the can" for years.  I have a lot of songs that honestly only need about 1 additional hour of work, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to complete them.  But I'm going to use the power of the WB community to push through!

It's silly that this song has taken so long - it was done in one take!  This is a prepared tabletop guitar piece with a bunch of pedals in the mix.  I had to edit out a line buzz frequency and had to edit two cord dropouts.  Barely noticeable if I left them in, but you all know what it is like to freak out over a sound that nobody else can hear...

This piece is about something evil in the distance.  If Sly Deal was about the car crash, and everyone coming for you, Sinister is about that disturbing thing in the distance that distracted you while you were driving.  Except it stays with you.  A negative idea is inside of you, in your mind.  In a way, it becomes a part of you.

I want to make a music video for this, and the end will be me, waking up on top of the cover of a swimming pool, and me sinking into the pool, getting tangled and smothered by the cover.

yikes Sounds like a didgeridoo. Very cool overtones. Percussion to match!

Beautiful man! I 'see' a lot of images of very hot places (don't know why) when listening to it, I like it a lot. Total soundtrack music! Maybe you should shoot some images to go with it!

Nice job dude!

Completely my kind of sound. I love guitar and pedals.

Lots of cool sounds on this one and definitely a bit of an evil undertone.

REally awesome low end building up to some even sweeter stuff.

this might be my favorite song of yours yet, although you do some quality work. kudos!

btw, i had no idea who this was because i was on the phone with someone, but i would never have guessed it was sinister! sounds kind of positive but neutral simultaneously.

I definitely am going to make a video - That's cool about the hot places - I love getting feedback and different interpretations from you all; it makes the song come alive for me in new ways, thank you!

AHHH George!  That means a lot coming from you.  Truly, I am grateful.  I also love that you interpreted as positive & neutral.  That makes me happy to know the piece has a wide range for a number of people.  The WeeklyBeats family is really making my work come alive!!

So atmospheric. Really enjoyed listening to this. Actually found it calming.
