Illusions

This is my second track with MIDINES.  I started it two weeks ago, and finished it today (20 seconds after the deadline).  What a rush!  I used only black piano keys for the melodies.  I used my OP-1 as a MIDI controller and it has a range of 10 black keys.  So I used all 10 keys for the melody A and all 10 keys in a different sequence for melody B.  That was a fun puzzle to do!

Things I learned:

- If you believe in yourself, the results can be incredible.
- The Weekly Beats countdown means business

Things for next time:

- UPLOAD THE TRACK.  BEFORE.  SUNDAY.

hahaha There are a lot of people around the world promising themselves they'll upload their pieces on saturday, no excuses.

Excellent pieces. DInd't see the vocals coming. Glad you give the MidiNES some FX love, so the sound departs from the classic chiptune anthem (nothing bad with chiptuning, either)

Perfect track, love the vocals!

You're right, believe in yourself and the results will be amazing!

Thanks for the love guys.  Laguna, yeah, I really love to expand (just ever so slightly) on the narrow frequency range of the chip sounds to give it some breathing room.  Naiky, thanks for the the kind words on the vox!  You guys really inspire me to keep cranking these out (at the last minute unfortunately :-P)

Ok, you're upping the MidiNES ante and I feel I have to match the bar you're setting now. SO GOOD. HOW DARE YOU.

Yea, that countdown does not fuck around; when you're out, you're fucking out, unless you accept defeat and request a link.

Only black keys is basically the same as F# major pentatonic, it's not as hard as it sounds, especially when limiting yourself to just 2 octaves and semiquavers.

Music theory is fun.

Great vocals! Is that you? How did you record them? Sounds great!

i like your use of vocals -- you're not shying away from drastic manipulation of your own voice, respect. great trippy tune.

It's all your fault, you started it!
