Exultation; Mystification

I wrote another track last week, but I want more time to work on it, so I pulled something from the archives and finished it.  I used the OP-1's Tombola mode, where you have a spinning drum and the notes/beats fall randomly and hit each other.  I recorded a lot of time and then found a particular combination of beats and notes that I really liked.  I added a melodic portion, but I later decided that it made the piece too "song-like" and I wanted this to be more "soundscape".  I didn't erase all of the melodic portion and found that leaving one note was somewhat shocking and mysterious.

I don't know if I could have mastered it louder, I like it how it is (I think?).

Next time: FINISH THE TRACK BEFORE SUNDAY, FOR GOODNESS SAKE.

"FINISH THE TRACK BEFORE SUNDAY, FOR GOODNESS SAKE." has been my mantra these past weeks. Digging this one. Awesome tags as well. Magical, creepy, awesome noise drone, indeed.

Noisee!!

Loooking forward for the next week for to hear this tune finished! big_smile

I have a hard time finishing tracks on time too! Things get hectic. Really enjoy the space you've created here smile.

it's weird but the title with the semicolon reminded me immediately of the NIN "fixed" EP, the niftily named remix of "broken." random or purpose?

the track is good. don't worry about the mastering. it's good.

I happened to see a few more OP-1 synth jams on the youtubes and I gotta say it seems pretty awesome!  The spinning drum thing gives it a sort of synth popcorn maker effect smile  Or a fire crackling.  Also I always tell myself "before Sunday" but so far I've been wrong every week tongue  As long as it gets done! smile

Terrific soundscape! And inspirational.

Is there anything an OP-1 can't do?

oooohhhhh yes. Glad you left out the melodic part (mostly). Wouldn't change a thing.

Usual workflow: spent 6 days choosing sounds, average arrangement is 4 bars long... FInish everything on sunday evening. Rarely remastering and encoding is made before deadline - 2 hours smile

Really fun jam. Random yet melodic and nice to the ear

Hopefully I will finish a track on Saturday sometime before.....2023

Thanks!  It's tough for me to keep things simple!

That's an awesome connection, didn't think of it.  My main thing about the semicolon was to show that the elements weren't related or in conjunction or in spite of each other.  There are things in this world that bring me great joy.  There are things in this world that are unbelievably mysterious.  Sometimes they are separate, sometimes not!  This song brings me great joy; I have no idea what is really happening in the track!!

All's well that ends well, I suppose!  Synth popcorn sounds delicious

Thank you so much.  Very happy to hear that it is inspirational, that means the world to me.  It's a crazy machine!  I love it.

Thanks.  I wanted the melody because I wanted something to "make sense" so I really had to fight to let it be itself

Step one: choose sounds
Step two: arrange
Step three: procrastinate
Step four: panic
Step five: amazing track is complete!
